Golf at Chester River Yacht & Country Club dates to 1929, when the original nine-hole course was designed by Scotsman Alexander Findlay, widely regarded as the "Father of American Golf." As both the Club and the game of golf continued to grow, additional land was acquired to add another 9-holes. Renowned Mid-Atlantic golf course architect Edmund B. Ault, Sr. was commissioned to design what are now holes 4 through 12, which opened in 1972.
Today, the Club's 18-hole, par-71 championship layout winds through scenic farmland, tree-lined fairways, and offers picturesque views of the Chester River. With six sets of tees ranging in length from 4,352 to 6,349 yards, the course provides an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all skill levels. Narrow fairways, strategically placed water hazards, and small, undulating, well-bunkered greens place a premium on accuracy, course management, and thoughtful shot-making. Best of all, with no tee times required, members and their guests enjoy the flexibility to play when they choose, adding to the exceptional golf experience at Chester River Yacht & Country Club.
